Implement model building rules in letter and spirit

Monday's meeting with a team of officials assembled to discuss the preliminary assessment of damage brought on by recent severe rains in Shimla was presided over by Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena.

According to a preliminary analysis, unprepared drainage systems, irresponsible mining of hills, and the placement of waste along sensitive slopes were to blame for the significant damage in the state capital.

According to the chief secretary, Shimla received 552.1 mm more rain in August of this year than it did in August of 2022 (514.30 mm more).

According to him, well designed building with suitable drainage systems and secure disposal of construction-related waste should receive special attention in order to lower the risks associated with disasters. He claimed that unintended construction and canal diversion caused by clogged drains caused the most harm.
