Indicus Launches Neot? Luxury Interior Emulsion in Tamil Nadu

Indicus Paints, a brand positioned at the intersection of heritage and performance, has launched Indicus Neot? Luxury Interior Emulsion, described as India’s first luxury paint inspired by the cultural essence of Tamil Nadu. The Neot? range blends advanced paint technology with visual and philosophical influences drawn from South Indian art forms, architecture and long-standing traditions, marking a distinct shift in the premium paints segment.

Designed to deliver high-end performance, Neot? offers a radiant silky-sheen finish with enhanced scuff resistance and superior washability enabled by advanced stain-resistant polymers. The formulation creates a velvet-touch texture and an ultra-smooth surface, while integrated Silver Ion Technology provides natural antimicrobial protection. The product is backed by an eight-year warranty covering film integrity, flaking and peeling.

Beyond performance, Neot? reflects an environmentally conscious approach through low-VOC, odourless formulations and wellness-oriented technology. Indicus Paints links this sustainability focus to India’s traditional ecological practices, such as circular consumption and biodegradability, positioning eco-consciousness as an intrinsic part of Indian heritage rather than a modern add-on.

Commenting on the launch, B. Gokul, Brand Founder, Indicus, and Partner, VNC Group, said the objective was to create more than a luxury coating. He noted that the incorporation of Tamil Nadu’s timeless art forms into the product’s design and packaging demonstrates how tradition and modernity can coexist, with contemporary innovation reinterpreting heritage rather than replacing it.

The Neot? logo and packaging were designed by Gautam Patil, Co-Founder and Design Head, Plus One, drawing inspiration from Tamil script. The fluid typography echoes the movement of wet paint and reflects an Indo-Western sensibility. According to Patil, the visual identity mirrors Tamil culture’s balance of rhythm, restraint and confidence, highlighting how heritage and progress operate side by side in the region.

The launch coincides with a period of rapid economic growth in Tamil Nadu, currently India’s fastest-growing major state, with rising affluence reshaping residential and lifestyle preferences. Increasing investments by High Net-Worth Individuals and Non-Resident Indians in premium villas and gated communities across cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy are driving demand for bold, design-led interior finishes.

Gokul further observed that repainting cycles in India have shortened significantly, while demand for antibacterial, low-VOC and odourless paints has moved into the mainstream. At the same time, consumers are embracing textured finishes, feature walls and material-rich interiors incorporating elements such as terracotta, brass, wicker and handloom. Neot?, he said, aligns with these converging trends by combining advanced performance with a strong cultural narrative.

The launch reflects the emerging ‘India Modern’ design aesthetic, which prioritises regional identity and authenticity over borrowed minimalism. By drawing from Tamil typography, festivals and architectural references, Indicus Neot? positions luxury as expressive, rooted and locally inspired, while remaining contemporary and globally relevant.
