Jaipur Metro to revise DPR for Jaipur Metro Phase-II project

The Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (JMRCL) has again started an exercise to revise the detailed project report (DPR) for the project.

The state government aims to improve the crossroads project, creating conflict in constructing the proposed Jaipur Metro Phase-II on Tonk Road.

The state government, in its Budget, did not make allocations for the long-pending Jaipur Metro Phase-II project, a 23.5 km corridor.

In the current revised DPR of JMRCL, it proposed to construct stations at 21 locations, including Rambagh, Tonk Pathak and B2 Bypass. The Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister Shanti Dhariwal said that the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) had also initiated the projects for the underpass and semi-cloverleaf structures on the same or nearby locations.

The JDA will construct an underpass and an overbridge structure at Rambagh at Rs 130 crore. Likewise, the construction of an underpass will begin soon at Laxmi Mandir with an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore.

On the B2 Bypass, the JDA will soon begin the construction of an underpass and a cloverleaf structure.

These projects are capital intensive and require modification in design at the planning stage to avoid future conflict.

The Metro Lite and Metro Neo service might also be constructed on the same route. These are cheaper alternatives for conventional metro rail, which can be built and run at less than half the cost.

The state could receive assistance from the central government as the Budget for the rail service will be allocated separately for Tier-2 cities.
