MHADA to Build 19,497 Homes in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced its plan to construct 19,497 housing units across the state in the 2025-26 financial year, with an allocated budget of Rs 920.2 billion. This initiative will be carried out through MHADA’s regional boards in Mumbai, Pune, Konkan, Nashik, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Nagpur.

Major Allocations and Projects Under the Mumbai Board, 5,199 housing units will be constructed with a financial allocation of Rs 574.9 billion. Key redevelopment projects in Mumbai include:

BDD Chawls (Worli, Naigaon, Parel) – Rs 280 billion

PMGP Colony (Jogeshwari East) – Rs 35 billion

Paridhi Khadi (Bandra West) – Rs 20.5 billion

Siddharth Nagar (Goregaon) – Rs 57.3 billion

Additionally, Rs 2 billion has been allocated for hostels in Parel’s Jijamata Nagar, Rs 5.7 billion for mill workers’ housing, and Rs 20 billion for rehabilitation projects in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali, Malvani, and other areas.

Regional Housing Plans Beyond Mumbai, MHADA’s housing expansion covers:

Konkan Board – 9,902 units (Rs 140.8 billion)

Pune Board – -1,836 units (Rs 58.5 billion)

Nagpur Board – 692 units (Rs100.9 billion)

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Board – 1,608 units (Rs 23.1 billion)

Nashik Board – 91 units (Rs 8.6 billion)

Amravati Board – 169 units (Rs 6.5 billion)

Infrastructure and Special Projects The Konkan Board has allocated Rs1.5 billion for healthcare and housing facilities in Thane, Rs 3 billion for a senior citizen home and working women’s hostel, and Rs11.5 billion for the PMAY (Urban) project in Gotegao.

Similarly, the Nagpur Board has earmarked Rs 37.1 billion for the Chandrapur Special Planning Authority scheme and Rs 35 billion for the Textile Park Empress Mill project.

Boost to Affordable Housing With this Rs 920 billion investment, MHADA aims to improve affordable housing access across Maharashtra. These projects, including slum redevelopment, transit housing, and special housing schemes, will significantly contribute to the state's urban infrastructure.
