Mumbai Expands E-Bus Fleet with 122 New Electric Buses under BEST–PMI Partnership

Accelerating its shift toward sustainable urban transport, PMI Electro Mobility’s Mumbadevi Mobility, in collaboration with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), has rolled out the second batch of 12-metre fully electric buses in Mumbai.

At an official ceremony held at BEST’s Colaba Depot, four new e-buses were flagged off in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister, who jointly led the inauguration.

This rollout marks a major step in the city’s ongoing plan to deploy 250 electric buses, with 122 units flagged off in this phase to further strengthen Mumbai’s clean mobility network. To support smooth operations, Oshiwara–Goregaon Depot has been fully energized with 15 high-capacity chargers, enabling efficient overnight charging and uninterrupted service.

The new 12-metre low-floor electric buses, designed and manufactured by PMI Electro Mobility, combine passenger comfort with sustainability. Each bus accommodates 36 passengers plus the driver, features wheelchair access, three foldable seats, and a 400 mm floor height for easy boarding. Powered by a 366.66 kWh LFP battery, the buses offer a range of up to 300 km on a single charge. The advanced PMSM motor system ensures efficient, quiet performance, while modern safety and accessibility features enhance passenger experience.

Expressing pride in the milestone, Dr Aanchal Jain, CEO, PMI Electro Mobility, said, “It fills me with pride to see these electric buses on Mumbai’s roads, knowing that each journey contributes to a cleaner, healthier city. Every feature — from the low-floor design to the advanced battery system — reflects our commitment to people and the planet. We’re grateful to BEST for their trust and partnership in advancing Mumbai’s vision for sustainable and inclusive mobility.”

With operations across 31 cities and over 2,700 electric buses, PMI Electro Mobility continues to drive India’s electric public transport revolution — from Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh to West Bengal, Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa — bringing cleaner, greener mobility solutions to every corner of the country.
