Trimble Expands Connected Workflows in Tekla Structures 2025

Trimble ® (Nasdaq: TRMB) today introduced the 2025 version of Tekla ® Structures, its flagship structural building information modeling (BIM) software. The new version introduces AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and more efficient creation of fabrication drawings. New and enhanced features help to create, combine, manage and share information-rich 3D models for real-time, model-based collaboration throughout construction project stages.
To create high-quality fabrication drawings faster, Tekla Structures 2025 offers enhanced drawing automation capabilities with new tools that improve the user experience, while minimising rework, making it easier for users to follow company and regulatory standards for drawings.

AI Cloud Fabrication Drawing Service
Introduced as a preview* in Tekla Structures 2025, the new AI Cloud Fabrication Drawing service gives users the ability to utilize artificial intelligence in the creation of fabrication drawings. Without being disruptive to customers’ usual workflows, the preview feature provides an optional, alternative approach that can reduce the need for manual adjustments.

AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla
A new AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla is available, both within the product as an extension and as a web app in Tekla User Assistance, a centralized product support system for customers. It provides accurate and concise answers to users’ questions on Tekla products — Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds or Tekla PowerFab ® — by using the Tekla User Assistance knowledge base.

Seamless Model-based Collaboration with Project Stakeholders
Using the Tekla PowerFab Connector functionality in Tekla Structures, the detailer can submit packages for estimating, purchasing and fabrication from Tekla Structures with a single-click integration to Tekla PowerFab steel fabrication management software. This ensures material
profiles, project statuses and submittals are fully synchronized in real-time, enabling detailers to receive up-to-date information and direct feedback on submittals from fabricators. This reduces the need for RFIs and manual updates and can help improve project profitability for the detailing company. For fabricators, this means less production waste and less ad-hoc expensive material purchases.

Live Collaboration
The Live Collaboration service (new as a preview* in Tekla Structures 2025) enables working in the same model using either Trimble Connect ® or Tekla Structures. This allows project stakeholders to adopt a model-based review of progress — a leap forward from drawing- based workflows.

TrimBIM
Tekla Structures 2025 now has improved workflows, not only when using the IFC format, but also the more performant TrimBIM format. An improved data exchange with the Trimble Connect common data environment and collaboration platform allows users to only share what is needed for the task and enrich this shared information with model data. This benefits all stakeholders by enabling efficient data flow and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Field-to-office Integration and Visibility
The new version of Tekla Structures provides improved integrations to help stakeholders in the office and the field work together more efficiently. Integration with the Trimble Reality Capture platform service enables users to collaborate in point clouds and 3D models without consuming local hardware resources.
The revamping of the Layout Manager functionality in Tekla Structures 2025 enhances clarity into as-built checks from the site and provides precise guidance from the office, ensuring both accuracy and efficiency in project execution. These improvements enable better collaboration with project surveyors by integrating model data with field operations.

Further Improvements for Detailing Efficiency
Significant usability and performance improvements in property panes and drawing properties dialogs within Tekla Structures 2025 enhance the overall experience. The 2025 version also offers enhanced functionality for rebar detailing like Reinforcement Sequence Numbering in a pour or a cast unit. These improvements support manufacturing processes as well as the work on-site and ensure full compliance with standards. The extended rebar detailing functionality also offers improvements to Rebar Sets to make them more useful, supporting a wider variety of structures, such as ramps or water drainage slabs with openings.
“Trimble fully embraces connected workflows as the key to building better, faster, safer, cheaper and greener,” said Oxana Kyllönen, product manager, Trimble. “Our Tekla portfolio centers around the concept of connecting multidisciplinary teams in construction around enriched BIM information. The 2025 version of Tekla Structures adds new layers of data quality and information flow for teams working with all materials and in all roles across the construction continuum, helping them to deliver with confidence.
