Eight new Ginger hotels by FY15: Roots Corp

Roots Corporation on July 29 stated that it will open eight new properties under 'Ginger' budget hotel chain across India, adding 470 rooms, by the end of next financial year. The firm, that currently has 2,700 rooms spread across 28 properties, is looking at smaller cities and towns like Bhubaneswar, Vapi, Jaipur and Vadodara, besides metros for expansion. Roots Corporation is a subsidiary of Tata group firm Indian Hotels.

Roots Corporation Ltd Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer PK Mohankumar said the new hotels will be under both lease arrangement and under management contract models, he added. He was speaking on the sidelines of launch of the company's new 83-room property under the Ginger brand in Noida in National Capital Region.

Out of the eight hotels, six at Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Vapi, Jaipur, Greater Noida and Vadodara are under lease arrangement while the two at Chandigarh and Amritsar are under management contract, he added.

In the long term perspective the company plans to open hotels in micro markets in metro towns and tier I and tier II cities across the country, Mohankumar said. The company currently has 2,700 rooms spread across 28 properties in the country in cities like Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Durg, Goa, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Haridwar, Nasik, Jamshedpur, Ludhiana, Mangalore, Mysore, New Delhi, Chennai, Puducherry, Vadodara, Thiruvananthapuram and Surat among others.
