About 119 projects identified in Andhra Pradesh under Sagarmala

Nearly 119 projects of over Rs 1 lakh crore have been identified in Andhra Pradesh under the Sagarmala project.

Sagarmala Programme has partially funded nine projects worth Rs 1,124 crore. From these nine projects, four projects of Rs 694 crore have been completed, three of Rs 88 crore are under implementation, and two projects of Rs 342 crore are under development.

These projects will focus on infrastructures, including the Port Industrialisation, Port Modernisation, Port Connectivity Enhancement, Coastal Community Development and Coastal Shipping, and Inland Waterways.

The Central Ministries, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), Indian Railways, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), State government and Major Ports implemented these projects.

The central government approved the development of A Major Port in Wadhavan on the landlord Port development model because of its growing requirement of import and export in the country.

Over 800 projects worth nearly Rs 5.54 lakh crore were identified for implementation from 2015 to 2035 under the Sagarmala project.

These projects include modernising the existing ports and terminals, new ports, terminals, roll-on or roll-off (RoRo) and tourism jetties, enhancing port connectivity, inland waterways, lighthouse tourism, industrialisation around the port, skill development, technology centres, among others.

The Central Line Ministries, State Maritime Boards, Major Ports, and Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) through the private sector or Public-Private Partnership (PPP) have implemented these projects.
