Adani Group Raises Rs 435 Billion In Equity

The Adani Group has completed equity fundraisings totalling Rs 435 billion (Rs 435 bn) over the past eight months, reflecting renewed investor appetite for its listed businesses. The total stems from a combination of a large rights issue and two qualified institutional placements that drew significant participation from domestic mutual funds and other institutional investors. The scale of the raises has altered the funding profile of the conglomerate and provided near-term liquidity for strategic priorities.

The largest component was a Rs 250 bn rights issue by Adani Enterprises Ltd completed in December 2025, followed by a Rs 150 bn QIP earlier this month and a Rs 35 bn QIP by Adani Energy Solutions Ltd that closed this week. AESL intends to use the proceeds to fund capital expenditure, repay debt, pursue potential acquisitions and meet general corporate requirements. Adani Enterprises plans to deploy its QIP proceeds across airports, roads, data centres and new energy ventures while allocating a portion to reduce leverage.

Domestic mutual funds increased exposure markedly during the capital raises even as some foreign investors trimmed positions in the June quarter. GQG Partners pared stakes in certain group companies while SBI Mutual Fund acquired shares worth around Rs 57.5 bn in Adani Enterprises and AESL through block deals in June. Filings show that various SBI schemes accounted for more than 15 per cent of the shares offered in the Adani Enterprises QIP.

The market value of mutual fund holdings across five of the group's largest listed companies has climbed to an all time high of about Rs 1 trillion (Rs 1 tn), underscoring the depth of domestic support. The successful raises increase the group's financial flexibility as it accelerates investments across energy, transport and digital infrastructure. The capital mobilisation positions the conglomerate to pursue its pipeline while addressing refinancing needs.
