Afcons Names Subramanian Executive Chairman, Mistry Emeritus

Afcons Infrastructure Limited, the flagship infrastructure engineering and construction arm of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, has announced a significant leadership transition. The Board of Directors has elevated long-serving Chairman Shapoorji Mistry to the honorary position of Chairman Emeritus, while Krishnamurthy Subramanian has been appointed as Executive Chairman. Additionally, Pallon S Mistry has been inducted to the Board, marking a generational shift in the group’s engagement with Afcons.
Shapoorji Mistry, who has served on the Afcons Board for over 25 years, including 13 years as Chairman, will now step into a non-board advisory role. As Chairman Emeritus, he will continue to provide strategic guidance and mentorship, ensuring the continuity of Afcons’ professional governance and long-term vision.
The Board credited Shapoorji Mistry with playing a pivotal role in Afcons’ growth trajectory between FY2012 and FY2025. During this period, the company’s turnover rose nearly fivefold to Rs 130.23 billion, while EBITDA registered a compound annual growth rate of over 14.5 per cent. The order book also expanded more than fivefold to Rs 368.69 billion.
With the induction of Pallon S Mistry—representing the next generation of the Shapoorji Pallonji family—the group reinforces its strategic oversight while maintaining the professional autonomy of Afcons’ leadership. His inclusion is expected to strengthen alignment between the group’s long-term goals and Afcons’ future roadmap.
Krishnamurthy Subramanian, who previously served as Executive Vice Chairman, has now been appointed Executive Chairman. A veteran of over 22 years with Afcons, Subramanian has held several leadership roles including Managing Director and Vice Chairman. He has been central to transforming Afcons into a globally respected professional organisation, with a focus on high-performance culture and strong governance.
Under his leadership, Afcons has delivered several landmark infrastructure projects across India and abroad, including the Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir, the Atal Tunnel in Himachal Pradesh, India’s first underwater metro tunnel in Kolkata, the Sohar Jetty in Oman, and the New Owendo International Port in Gabon.
Afcons reaffirmed its commitment to remaining a professionally managed enterprise while benefiting from the strategic guidance and generational continuity of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
