Ather Hits 17% Market Share, Unveils New Tech and Platform

Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has doubled its market share over the past year, reaching nearly 17 per cent in August 2025, according to co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta. Speaking at the company’s annual Ather Community Day in Bengaluru, Mehta stated, “We are now the number one electric scooter brand in South India and the largest in Gujarat.” Ather’s retail footprint has expanded to 416 stores and is expected to grow to 700 outlets in the near future.
To fuel its next phase of growth, Ather unveiled a series of new products and technologies, headlined by its all-new EL platform—its first new vehicle architecture since the 450 series. Designed for scalability, cost optimisation, and versatility, the EL platform allows shared use of chassis, powertrain, and electronics across multiple scooter models. Developed from over 2.6 million km of field data, it enables 15 per cent faster assembly and up to twice the servicing speed, with service intervals extended to 10,000 km.
“The EL platform will define Ather’s next chapter, helping us scale up product development more efficiently,” said Mehta. The platform will be rolled out at Ather’s upcoming Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar factory.
Ather also introduced Project Redux, a concept moto-scooter that blends the agility of a scooter with the dynamics of a motorcycle. It includes innovations such as posture-based transformation, the MorphUI interface, and ultra-fast acceleration.
In technology, Ather unveiled AtherStack 7.0, featuring voice-enabled interaction through a large language model tuned for Indian dialects. The update includes safety functions such as Pothole Alerts, Crash Alerts, and theft protection tools like ParkSafe and LockSafe.
The company also announced next-generation fast chargers, offering twice the charging speed and adding up to 30 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Product upgrades include enhancements to the Rizta Z, now featuring a touchscreen dashboard, refreshed interface, new Terracotta Red colour, and an additional Eco Mode. The Ather 450 Apex will offer Infinite Cruise, an advanced cruise control feature tailored for Indian road conditions.
These launches position Ather Energy to expand its presence and appeal to a broader consumer base, while consolidating its leadership in key regional markets.
