Ather Unveils EL Platform, AI Tech, Fast Charging for 2025

Ather Energy, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced a major wave of product and technology upgrades at the third edition of its annual Ather Community Day 2025. Central to the announcement was the introduction of the company’s new EL platform—its first fresh vehicle architecture since the Ather 450. Developed with scalability, performance, and cost optimisation in mind, the EL platform lays the groundwork for a new generation of Ather scooters that can serve diverse customer needs across multiple segments. Built using over 2.6 million kilometres of field data, the platform features an all-new chassis, a re-engineered powertrain, and a fully redesigned electronics stack. It supports a simplified architecture with fewer components, resulting in a 15 per cent faster assembly process and up to twice the speed in routine servicing, while increasing service intervals to 10,000 km. Safety has also been enhanced through the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), which shortens stopping distances and reduces the risk of rear-wheel lockups. The Ather Charge Drive Controller eliminates the need for portable chargers by integrating the onboard charger with the motor controller, significantly improving user convenience.
The company also showcased Redux, a concept moto-scooter designed to demonstrate the future of performance, combining the agility of a scooter with motorcycle-like dynamics. Built around a lightweight aluminium frame and equipped with futuristic materials such as AmplyTex and a 3D-printed lattice mesh seat, Redux introduces features like adaptive ride dynamics, posture-based transformation, and Morph-UI—a next-gen interface that responds to the rider’s intent. The concept includes a unique “Take Off” feature enabling ultra-fast acceleration, reflecting Ather’s vision of merging mechanical engineering with responsive digital experiences.
In a significant software leap, Ather introduced AtherStack™ 7.0—its largest ever upgrade to the proprietary technology stack that powers its vehicles. This version introduces voice control as a new mode of interaction, powered by a Large Language Model (LLM) trained on Indian dialects and local riding use cases. Riders can now engage with their scooters using natural conversations, with the AI proactively offering live location sharing, tyre pressure updates, and more. New safety features include Pothole Alerts, which use fleet-wide data to notify riders of poor road conditions, and Crash Alerts that detect accidents, notify emergency contacts, and display vital rider information. Theft protection is also enhanced with ParkSafe™, which alerts owners to unsafe parking zones, and LockSafe™, which enables remote immobilisation of the vehicle via the Ather app. Additional remote-control features allow users to start or stop charging or shut down the vehicle from anywhere.
Complementing these upgrades, Ather also updated its HALO™ smart helmet, introducing new colour variants, emergency pull-out padding, a USB-C charging port, a pinlock-compatible anti-fog visor, and premium noise-reducing sound systems that integrate seamlessly with voice controls. The 2025 Ather 450 Apex was upgraded with Infinite Cruise™, Ather’s own advanced cruise control system developed for Indian roads. It offers three distinct modes: CityCruise™, which works across speeds and adapts when braking or accelerating; Hill Control, which regulates torque for climbs and descents; and Crawl Control, which helps navigate uneven roads at low speeds with enhanced traction through Multimode Traction Control.
Ather also announced that all existing Rizta Z customers will receive a free over-the-air update that activates full touchscreen functionality and introduces a new Eco Mode for better range-performance balance. A refreshed interface and a new Terracotta Red dual-tone finish have also been introduced for the Rizta Z lineup.
On the infrastructure front, Ather unveiled a next-generation 6 kW fast charger, which is half the size of the current version but delivers twice the charging speed for select models—adding up to 30 km of range in just 10 minutes. Some chargers now come equipped with an inbuilt tyre inflator to optimise pressure and extend range. Ather also highlighted the growing adoption of the LECCS fast-charging standard, now supported by 10 partner OEMs and charge point operators including Hero Vida, Matter, Bolt, Kazam, and EVamp, enhancing interoperability across the Indian EV ecosystem.
Commenting on the announcements, Tarun Mehta, Co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, stated that the EL platform will define the company’s next growth phase, enabling faster product development and scalable innovation. Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO, added that AtherStack 7.0 marks the beginning of voice-based AI in everyday riding, making EV technology more accessible and intuitive for Indian consumers. These advancements collectively reinforce Ather’s leadership in building future-ready mobility solutions for India’s evolving electric vehicle landscape.
