Centre Extends RoDTEP Scheme for Exporters to December 31

The Centre has extended the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for exporters by three months until December 31, 2026. The duty refund programme was scheduled to end on September 30.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade said the extension would apply to eligible exports from domestic tariff area units, advance authorisation units, special economic zones and export-oriented units. The decision covers shipments made during the extended period and continues the existing framework for claiming benefits.

Launched in 2021, the RoDTEP scheme refunds taxes, duties and levies incurred during the manufacture and distribution of exported goods. The refund is available where such costs are not reimbursed through another mechanism at the Centre, state or local level.

Refund rates under the programme range from 0.3 per cent to 3.9 per cent, depending on the product and the applicable rate notified by the government. The scheme is intended to reduce the embedded tax burden on exports and support the competitiveness of Indian goods in overseas markets.

The budget allocation for RoDTEP in 2025-26 was Rs. 182.32 bn. The allocation for the current fiscal year is Rs. 100 bn. The extension provides exporters with continuity while the government determines the scheme’s requirements and funding beyond December 31.
