Chhattisgarh CM Explores Green Development with Singapore

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met senior officials of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay during a state delegation visit, with discussions covering sustainable urban planning, horticulture and green development. The meeting formed part of Sai’s participation in the inaugural Singapore-India Network for Growth (SING) Forum 2026, organised by the Singapore Business Federation following a nomination by India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

Sai and the delegation met Jason Yeo, General Manager for Master Planning, and Lim Chiap Song, Director, at the attraction. Officials briefed the delegation on master planning, sustainable design and garden management practices. The discussions examined possible institutional collaboration in horticulture, botanical conservation, urban greening, eco-tourism and capacity building.

Sai said Chhattisgarh’s forest cover and biodiversity made Singapore’s experience relevant to the state’s development plans. The administration plans to assess the Gardens by the Bay model for a proposed botanical garden in Nava Raipur and for expanding landscaping and green spaces across urban and rural areas. The initiatives are intended to support tourism, increase visitor numbers and create employment opportunities.

Later, Sai attended a leadership dinner hosted by the Singapore Business Federation ahead of the forum. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, India’s High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule, federation chairman Mark Lee and chief executive Kok Ping Soon were among the participants. Representatives of companies including Mastercard, Tata Consultancy Services, Nestle and The Indian Hotels Company, along with state delegations, also attended. Discussions covered investment, trade and long-term economic partnerships.

Sai outlined Chhattisgarh’s investment potential, industrial policy and reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business. He presented opportunities in the MSME, startup and manufacturing sectors and invited Singaporean companies to pursue partnerships with the state. He is scheduled to participate in the forum on October 5, followed by a CEO roundtable on October 6 with Singapore-based companies and investment institutions to discuss economic partnerships and investment prospects.
