Cortec’s EcoSonic Film Combines ESD and Corrosion Protection

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can cause serious damage to electronic components, often during handling, shipping, or storage. While ESD protection has long been a focus for manufacturers, corrosion remains an equally critical concern. Addressing both challenges, Cortec® Corporation has introduced the EcoSonic® VpCI®-125 HP Permanent ESD Film & Bags, offering a streamlined solution for dual protection.

Permanent ESD Protection The EcoSonic® film incorporates a permanent ESD additive that eliminates static build-up, ensuring long-lasting protection against electrostatic damage. Unlike traditional “pink poly” materials that degrade over time, the permanent ESD feature remains active throughout the product’s shelf life—making it ideal for electronics that may sit in storage for extended periods.

Corrosion Prevention for Electronics Beyond ESD, Cortec’s innovation tackles corrosion—a frequent cause of premature electronic failures. Using Vapour phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCI®), the bags form a molecular protective layer over metal surfaces inside the package. This invisible layer prevents oxidation and corrosion during shipping and storage, and it dissipates naturally once the part is removed.

Simplifying Packaging Processes The dual-protection design helps manufacturers and distributors reduce the number of packaging materials required. One electronics distributor, after testing EcoSonic® bags against conventional ESD moisture barrier bags and desiccants, reported equivalent or better performance—allowing them to switch entirely to the new system and streamline operations.

Two-in-One Protection for Quality Assurance By combining ESD and corrosion control in one material, EcoSonic® VpCI®-125 HP Permanent ESD Film & Bags simplify logistics, lower material costs, and enhance product reliability.

Manufacturers and distributors can now secure sensitive electronic components with confidence—achieving both static and corrosion protection in a single packaging solution.

Government Cancels Auction Of Eleven Critical Mineral Blocks

The government has cancelled the auction of 11 critical and strategic mineral blocks after receiving a poor investor response and failing to attract a sufficient number of qualified bidders. The decision represents a setback to plans to ramp up domestic exploration and production of critical minerals amid global supply chain disruptions and rising demand for materials used in clean energy and advanced technologies. The mines ministry issued an annulment notice setting out the reasons for the cancellations. The annulment notice indicated that the auction process for five mineral blocks was canc..
