Foxconn Plans Major Noida Unit as India Expands iPhone Footprint

Foxconn is reportedly in early talks to set up a major manufacturing facility in Greater Noida — one that could surpass the scale of its upcoming Bengaluru unit. If approved, it will be the Taiwanese giant’s first project in North India.

The site falls under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), near the upcoming Jewar airport and key expressways. It is also close to the location where the HCL-Foxconn JV has secured 50 acres for its OSAT plant, currently awaiting government clearance.

Analysts say the move strengthens Foxconn’s India strategy amid rising global supply chain shifts and new electronics manufacturing opportunities. The company already operates in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana but recently exited Sri City in Andhra Pradesh.

The planned expansion comes as India emerges as a major iPhone production hub. Apple reportedly exported iPhones worth Rs 1.5 trillion ($17.4 billion) in FY25, with India now accounting for 20 per cent of global iPhone output.

Meanwhile, shifting geopolitical winds are redrawing trade dynamics. The US recently imposed steep import tariffs — 145 per cent on China, and 26 per cent on India — prompting firms to rewire their supply chains.
