Govt grants exemption to conduct “Beyond Visual Line of Sight” experiments

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has given conditioned freedom from Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Rules, 2021 to 20 entities to lead Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) experimental drone flights. The preliminary permission allowance is visualised to promote the additional framework development of subsequent UAV rules about BVLOS drone services.

BVLOS experiments will assist in creating a framework for future drone performances and other important applications utilising drones.

The BVLOS Experiment Assessment and Monitoring (BEAM) committee has been established by the Central Government to invite Expression of Interest (EOI) to begin BVLOS experimental drone flights. An EOI notice dated May 13, 2019 was declared by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the above-mentioned plan.
