Hitachi Vantara Issues FY2025 Sustainability Report

Hitachi Vantara has released its FY2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting progress in energy-efficient infrastructure, lifecycle design initiatives and governance improvements to support growing AI-driven and data-intensive workloads.
The company said rising digital transformation and AI adoption are increasing power, cooling and efficiency demands across data centres, making sustainable infrastructure a critical business priority.
Key developments include the launch of VSP One Block High End, designed to improve scalability, reliability and efficiency while reducing power and cooling requirements for enterprise and AI workloads. The platform also includes tools for energy monitoring, carbon reduction and sustainability reporting.
Hitachi Vantara expanded lifecycle assessment programmes across its VSP One Block, File and Object portfolios to improve environmental impact measurement and Scope 3 emissions visibility. Its Clear Sight dashboard provides customers with data on energy consumption and carbon usage.
The company also increased the use of post-consumer recycled plastics in storage systems, with up to 50 per cent recycled content in key components. Less than 0.3 per cent of materials were sent to landfill, with most reused or recycled.
Akinobu Shimada, CEO, Hitachi Vantara, said the company is helping customers manage growing AI and data demands while improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Recent customer projects include DestekBank in Türkiye, which achieved a 25 per cent reduction in data centre energy use, and Malayala Manorama in India, which reported 70 per cent savings in power and cooling costs after infrastructure modernisation.
