ICAR-CIRB Organises Swachhata Samvad on Cleanliness

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (ICAR-CIRB), Hisar, organised a Swachhata Samvad as part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. The programme was held under the theme Swachhta Mein Sahbhag – Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat, with a focus on cleanliness, awareness and participation.

The initiative brought together contractual staff and Young Professionals (YPs) to encourage a clean and hygienic workplace. It was organised in line with the Day-VIII action plan, which identifies Swachhata Samvad as a platform for discussion and engagement on cleanliness initiatives, hygiene and sustainable waste management. Around 20 participants attended the programme.

Instead of following a conventional lecture-based format, the interaction enabled participants to share experiences, observations and suggestions on cleanliness-related issues in their homes, workplaces and surrounding areas. The discussions covered the prevention of littering, responsible waste disposal, reduction and appropriate use of plastic, waste segregation and the adoption of sustainable practices.

Participants examined how everyday actions could support cleaner and healthier surroundings. These included avoiding littering, reducing unnecessary plastic consumption, segregating waste and ensuring its proper disposal. The programme also emphasised that cleanliness extends beyond sanitation activities and requires continued behavioural changes and public participation.

The session concluded with a collective commitment to promote cleanliness, responsible waste management and sustainable habits in the participants’ respective surroundings. ICAR-CIRB said the initiative reflected the campaign’s emphasis on dialogue, participation and shared responsibility for creating a cleaner and healthier society.
