iGOT Karmayogi Hits 10 Million Civil Servants Nationwide

Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and other key departments, has announced a landmark milestone for the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building – Mission Karmayogi. The iGOT Karmayogi platform, a digital learning ecosystem managed by Karmayogi Bharat, has surpassed 10 million (1 crore) registered civil servants across India, reflecting a 30-fold increase from the 300,000 users recorded in January 2023.

This remarkable scale-up signifies the growing embrace of digital tools in public administration and underscores the Government’s commitment to building a future-ready, citizen-centric civil service. Over 60 per cent of iGOT users are state and union territory civil servants, with the rest belonging to central government ministries and departments. States leading in registrations include Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

More than 31 million learning certificates have been awarded through the platform, translating to over 38 million learning hours. The platform currently offers more than 2,400 courses in 16 Indian languages, developed by over 200 contributors, including government ministries, civil society organisations, training institutes, academic institutions, and private sector experts. All content is aligned with the Karmayogi Competency Model (KCM), an indigenous framework rooted in Indic knowledge and the mission’s ethos.

A key driver of engagement has been the organisation of national and state-level learning initiatives. The inaugural Karmayogi Saptah (National Learning Week), held from 19–27 October 2024, saw over 3.2 million course completions and 3.8 million hours of learning. Launched by the Prime Minister, the event focused on creating a forward-looking, adaptive civil service for the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. Inspired by this, several states—including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands—hosted their own Learning Weeks to cultivate progressive governance mindsets.

Looking ahead, the iGOT Karmayogi platform aims to expand its course library in regional languages, enhance content quality, integrate artificial intelligence for better user experience, and onboard additional partners.

Designed as Digital Public Infrastructure, iGOT Karmayogi is scalable, secure, and sustainable, serving as a model for lifelong learning in the public sector. Its success has also attracted international attention, with interest from countries in the Caribbean and other regions to replicate the platform for their civil service ecosystems.

Guided by the principles of Enabling, Empowering, and Evolving, the platform continues to strengthen its mission of building a skilled, accountable, and citizen-first civil service across India.
