JanSamarth Portal Processes Over Four Million Applications

JanSamarth portal, launched by the Prime Minister on six June 2022, has processed approximately four point one one four million (mn) applications totalling Rs 1,063.06 billion (bn) through a single national platform, and banks have accorded digital approval to three point five zero seven million (mn) beneficiaries amounting to Rs 843.66 billion (bn) as of 20 March 2026. The portal was conceived to expand the reach of credit linked government schemes and to streamline the credit delivery process for beneficiaries, financial institutions and Central and State government agencies.

As of 20 March 2026, 254 lenders are onboarded, including 12 public sector banks, 20 private sector banks, 28 regional rural banks, 173 DCCBs, 15 NBFCs and six small finance banks. 15 credit linked central government schemes covering agriculture, renewable energy, business activity, livelihood and housing are available on the portal. The platform provides a single window for application submission, performs automated eligibility checks and issues in principle sanctions before forwarding applications to the selected bank branches.

The portal functions as a digital marketplace with an integrated front end for beneficiaries and centralised data sources to expedite processing. Real time checks with the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Goods and Services Tax records, UDYAM, National E Governance Services Limited, Unique Identification Authority of India, CIBIL and sector specific systems such as AgriStack and the Kisan Rin Portal enable faster decision making. Applicants can receive guided scheme recommendations and digital approvals, reducing the need for repeated physical visits to bank branches.

The portal is available in eight different languages and supports assisted submissions by bank business correspondents and partners, and it is accessible via a website and mobile applications on Android and iOS. A dedicated grievance redressal mechanism records and tracks complaints with assigned responsibilities and time frames. The initiative is intended to promote inclusive growth by simplifying access to credit linked government support.
