Jyoti Structures Launches Heat Safety Drive

Jyoti Structures has stepped up heat safety efforts across its project sites and manufacturing facilities as India enters peak summer. The listed EPC company, specialising in power transmission infrastructure, has introduced a Summer Safety Plan covering all transmission line project sites.

The plan addresses heat stress, dehydration and fatigue risks among workers. Site teams have been directed to shift work hours away from peak afternoon heat, provide drinking water, ORS and lemon-salt solution, and set up rest shelters near work areas. Daily toolbox talks, worker health monitoring, first-aid readiness, emergency transport and restrictions on tower climbing during extreme heat are also included.

The initiative covers workers involved in tower erection, material handling, fabrication, galvanisation and other physically demanding tasks. Workers are being trained to identify early signs of heat stress, remain hydrated, use shaded rest areas and wear suitable protective equipment.

Heat stress drills have also been conducted at active project sites to help workers, supervisors and emergency response teams respond to heat-related incidents. At its Nashik manufacturing facility, JSL has carried out on-the-job training on heat safety, housekeeping and safe material handling, supported by safety awareness boards across the factory floor.

Vandana Kudalkar, Senior VP – QHSE, Jyoti Structures Limited, said regular training, clear communication and quick response capability are critical to keeping workers safe during extreme weather. The initiative forms part of JSL’s Health, Safety and Environment framework, which governs safety operations across the company.
