Kapil Dev acquires 16-acre land in Karjat, faces stamp duty adjustment

The 1983 Prudential World Cup Cricket-winning team captain, Kapil Dev, recently acquired a 16-acre parcel of land in Mograj village, Karjat taluka. The property, registered last Friday, marks his second land purchase. Situated approximately 500 meters from Kothimbe village, the land spans both sides of the road, positioned well ahead of the popular tourist destination, Solanpada dam.

The acquisition, totalling Rs 80 million, was made from Mohan Gaikar, a farmer from Hedvali village, based on their mutual agreement. Despite the actual transaction value, Kapil Dev had to pay a higher stamp duty of Rs 10.3 million. This was calculated using the government's ready reckoner rate for the area (Rs 90.3 million), surpassing the amount he paid for the land. The registration process reflected this adjustment in accordance with the government's valuation.
