Modi To Launch Projects Worth Rs 78.23 Billion In Telangana

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Telangana on May 10, marking his first trip to the state after assuming office for a third consecutive term. Kishan said the prime minister will launch and lay the foundation for major development projects across the state totalling Rs 78.23 billion (Rs 78.23 bn). The announcement was made at a press conference at the BJP state office in Hyderabad.

In Hyderabad the prime minister will inaugurate a petroleum products storage and distribution terminal built with modern technology to meet the city's growing fuel demands. He will also virtually lay the foundation stone for national highway projects worth Rs 31.75 billion (Rs 31.75 bn) in Mahbubnagar district to strengthen regional connectivity. The visit will include the inauguration of the Zaheerabad Industrial City, which is expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities for youth in the erstwhile Medak district and surrounding regions.

Kishan said the industrial city is set to emerge as a major hub for the automobile and manufacturing sectors and to boost regional economic activity. He highlighted the Union government's commitment to modernising the railway sector in Telangana and stated that projects worth nearly Rs 850 billion (Rs 850 bn) are currently in various stages of execution. As part of the visit the prime minister will dedicate upgraded Hafeezpet and Jogulamba railway stations and inaugurate the third railway line between Kazipet and Vijayawada to ease congestion and improve train speeds.

On tribal development and education the minister reported progress on the Sammakka-Saralamma Central Tribal University in Mulugu and said full-scale construction of the campus will commence soon. He noted that works on the Hyderabad–Yadagirigutta MMTS project are underway and being expedited to improve suburban connectivity. Kishan said the Pradhan Mantri Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal is being fast tracked to position Telangana as a major textile hub and that the initiative aims to help achieve exports worth Rs 9 trillion (Rs 9 tn) by 2030. He also alleged that opposition parties opposed the women’s reservation and delimitation bills through false propaganda and warned that political leaders would be held accountable for any future injustices to southern states.
