NCLAT Quashes Insolvency Proceedings Against Embassy Developments

Embassy Developments said the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has set aside an earlier order of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) that had admitted insolvency proceedings against the company, thereby quashing the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP). The appellate tribunal's order removes the basis for the insolvency admission and closes the matter.

The NCLAT has specifically set aside the NCLT order dated December nine, two thousand and twenty five, quashed and closed the CIRP, subsumed earlier interim protections into the final judgment and terminated all directions arising from the NCLT order. As a result the company stands fully relieved from all insolvency proceedings and the actions arising from that admission have been disposed of.

The company said it remains financially sound and continues to operate in the normal course with no impact on business operations, projects or stakeholders. The statement noted strong operational performance in fiscal year 2026 with pre-sales of about Rs 46 billion (46 bn), including the highest ever quarterly bookings in the fourth quarter, underscoring sustained demand and execution momentum.

The company's chairman said the matter related to a legacy issue in which a letter by an earlier group was misconstrued as a corporate guarantee and that the company pursued the appeal with confidence in its case. He acknowledged the difficulties this episode had caused shareholders and welcomed the relief for the company's shares while reiterating that underlying business performance had remained resilient.

Embassy Developments, formerly known under other names, is a large listed real estate developer with a diversified portfolio across major urban markets and is listed on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange. The company benefits from the institutional foundation of its promoter, the Embassy Group, which has delivered and managed more than 100 million (100 mn) sq. ft. across sectors in India.
