NPG Clears Seven Infrastructure Projects Under GatiShakti

The Network Planning Group (NPG) has evaluated and cleared seven projects — one road/highway project of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), one Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), three railway projects, and two textile parks under the PM MITRA Scheme — for compliance with PM GatiShakti principles of integrated multimodal infrastructure, last-mile connectivity, and a whole-of-government approach. These initiatives aim to improve logistics efficiency, cut travel times, and deliver socio-economic benefits to their respective regions.

Railway Projects
The Ministry of Railways has proposed three capacity enhancement works:
  • Bakhtiyarpur–Fatuha (Bihar): Construction of a third and fourth line over 24.16 km in Patna district as part of multi-tracking the Kiul–Patna–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction corridor. The project will benefit major industries including cement, power, automotive, marble, stone, food processing, petroleum, and textiles, while improving market access for farmers and boosting tourism to Patna, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, Nalanda, and Bihar Sharif.
  • Tambaram–Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu): A fourth line covering 30.02 km in Chengalpattu district to ease rising passenger and freight demand, benefiting cement, thermal power, coal, steel, and agriculture sectors.
  • Dongargarh–Gondia (Chhattisgarh & Maharashtra): A fourth line over 84.1 km under the “Energy Corridor” to improve bulk freight movement, decongest Gondia Junction, and facilitate seamless movement between Durg, Nagpur, and Balharshah.
  • For all three, NPG recommended station upgrades, improved passenger amenities, accessibility features, and related facilities such as parking, waiting areas, and evacuation road connectivity.
Road Project
  • NH-39 Widening (Madhya Pradesh): A 54.2 km corridor from Rewa to Churhat Tunnel and Churhat to Sidhi to improve connectivity between eastern Madhya Pradesh and the state capital, serving as a freight route for the cement and coal industries in Singrauli.

Logistics Project
  • MMLP Hyderabad (Telangana): Development of a 315-acre logistics park in Parkibanda village, Medak district, with an initial capacity of 1.47 million metric tonnes annually by 2028, scalable to 19.98 million metric tonnes by 2070. The site has multimodal connectivity via NH-44 and Manoharabad Railway Station, and will have direct access to major freight corridors once the Regional Ring Road is completed.
  • Textile Projects
  • PM MITRA Park (Madhya Pradesh): To be set up within the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor influence zone, providing infrastructure for the full textile value chain and benefiting districts including Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Jhabua, and Ujjain.
  • PM MITRA Park (Tamil Nadu): A 1,052-acre site in Virudhunagar offering plug-and-play manufacturing units, CETP and STP facilities, training centres, and social infrastructure.

Both textile parks aim to enhance global competitiveness, generate employment, and boost India’s position in the global textile industry, in alignment with PM GatiShakti and Make in India.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Pankaj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Logistics, DPIIT.

"Join industry leaders at RAHSTA Expo, India's premier platform for roads, highways and traffic infrastructure. Register now to explore innovations, network with experts and shape the future of mobility."
