Ola Gen 3 Scooters Get PLI Certification for Incentives

Ola Electric has received PLI certification for its Gen 3 electric scooter portfolio under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile and auto components sector. The certification, granted by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), covers all seven Ola S1 Gen 3 models.

This development means that both the Gen 2 and Gen 3 scooter line-ups are now PLI-certified, with the Gen 3 models—S1 Pro 3 kWh, S1 Pro 4 kWh, S1 Pro+ 4 kWh, S1 X 2 kWh, S1 X 3 kWh, S1 X 4 kWh, and S1 X+ 4 kWh—accounting for the majority of Ola’s current sales.

The company expects this certification to significantly improve profitability from Q2 FY26. A company spokesperson stated that the milestone “will directly strengthen our cost structure and margins, enabling us to deliver sustainable growth.” With the certification, Ola Electric becomes eligible for incentives ranging from 13 per cent to 18 per cent of the determined sales value (DSV) through to 2028.

Ola Electric said the certification supports its aim to make the auto business EBITDA positive, helping maintain competitive pricing while delivering premium EVs.

At its annual ‘Sankalp’ event held last week, Ola also launched several new models powered by its proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell, including:

S1 Pro Sport with 5.2 kWh and 4 kWh battery variants (starting at Rs 1.49 million and Rs 1.69 million),

S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh (Rs 1.69 million),

Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh (Rs 1.89 million).

Deliveries of the S1 Pro Sport will begin from January 2026, while the S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh and Roadster X+ will be delivered starting this Navratri. The announcement reflects Ola’s continued efforts to lead the Indian EV market with PLI-backed profitability and customer-focused innovation.
