Porter Expands To Eight Cities To Serve MSME Logistics Demand

Porter has expanded its intra-city logistics network to eight new cities across six states, launching operations in Mysore, Madurai, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Meerut, Agra, Aurangabad and Thrissur to strengthen its presence in regional markets and serve micro, small and medium enterprises. The rollout targets cities with established industrial and trading clusters and aims to address fragmented supply chains and last-mile connectivity challenges. Company materials indicate the selected markets were chosen for strong MSME activity in sectors such as textiles, light manufacturing, engineering, handicrafts, sports goods, hardware, leather, automobile components and coir.

Initial services have been rolled out through two-wheeler logistics tailored to congested markets and narrow urban streets, with plans to introduce three-wheelers and small commercial vehicles including the Tata Ace in subsequent phases to support scale. The platform is described as a digital, on-demand service offering real-time booking and GST-compliant billing to improve operational transparency and cost control for businesses. The expansion is presented as a response to limited availability of organised transport and inconsistent service reliability in intra-city logistics.

Porter reported having onboarded approximately 4,000 driver-partners across the new markets and stated that the number is expected to rise as operations scale. The company projected that the rollout could generate over 64,000 employment opportunities in the first year, driven by demand for last-mile delivery and logistics support. Company representatives emphasised the centrality of MSMEs to local economic activity and framed the expansion as enabling firms to expand beyond local catchment areas by providing dependable, technology-enabled logistics.

The wider platform currently serves three point six million (mn) customers every quarter and has onboarded one point two mn driver-partners nationwide, underscoring its scale. The latest rollout is positioned as part of a broader shift towards digital logistics solutions in Tier II and Tier III cities where structured intra-city transport demand is rising. The company indicated that additional vehicle categories and service enhancements will be introduced as market needs evolve.
