Rural Development Commissioner Reviews Projects in Malkangiri

Rural Development commissioner Yamini Sarangi carried out a review of several ongoing infrastructure projects in remote parts of Malkangiri district on Wednesday. The inspection covered under-construction rural roads leading to Paruguda and Kathiguda and extended to the Judicial Magistrate First Class court complex at Mathili and various development works in Khairput. She instructed the officials concerned to complete all projects within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality of work. The visit aimed to assess progress on connectivity and public infrastructure in hard to reach areas.

Sarangi, who also holds the post of Commercial Taxes (CT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) commissioner of Odisha, indicated that rural infrastructure development remained a top priority and that pending issues related to government projects would be resolved promptly. After the field inspection, a review meeting was convened at the Zilla Parishad conference hall to take stock of progress and timelines. Emphasising financial transparency, she instructed government departments and implementing agencies to deposit tax deducted at source with the GST office within stipulated schedules. The meeting also examined measures to ensure contractual compliance and workmanship standards.

Senior officials who participated included Malkangiri collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke and Zilla Parishad chief development officer Dasharathi Sarabu alongside heads of various departments. Attendees were asked to present up to date progress reports and to expedite procurement and contractor payments so that work was not delayed by administrative bottlenecks. Follow up mechanisms and periodic field verifications were proposed to strengthen oversight and to address site level challenges encountered in remote terrain.

The commissioner directed that project monitoring be intensified and that any shortfalls in materials or manpower be reported for immediate remedial action. Officials were reminded that timely financial compliance and transparent accounting would be essential to maintain the flow of funds and to safeguard project quality. Continued inspections were scheduled to ensure that improvements in road connectivity and civic infrastructure translated into tangible benefits for local communities.
