Shipping Corporation of India Expects Rs. 20 bn PAT for FY27

The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is expecting to report profit after tax (PAT) of more than Rs. 20 bn in financial year 2026-27, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said on Friday. The projection was shared during an event marking the company’s 65th Foundation Day.

SCI, described by the minister as the country’s largest shipping company, has already reported PAT of more than Rs. 6 bn during the first quarter of FY27. Sonowal said the first-quarter performance indicated that the company was on course to exceed the full-year target.

According to SCI’s FY26 financial report, the company posted standalone PAT of Rs. 13.53 bn. Its standalone operating revenue for the year stood at Rs. 57.78 bn.

The minister separately referred to last year’s post-tax profit as Rs. 13.26 bn while outlining the company’s performance and outlook. The figures cited during the Foundation Day event and those in the FY26 report have been presented as separate financial references in the available information.

The expected FY27 performance would represent a substantial increase over the profit figure cited for the previous year. The first-quarter result also provides the initial financial indicator for the current year, although the final outcome will depend on SCI’s performance during the remaining quarters.

Sonowal made the remarks on the sidelines of the Foundation Day celebration. SCI’s financial results are reported on a standalone basis in the company’s FY26 report, while the minister’s projection relates to the current financial year ending in March 2027.
