Sterling Kodai Valley Unveils Cycle-Themed Suites for Slow Travel

Sterling Kodai Valley has introduced cycle-themed suites inspired by the hill station’s outdoor culture and the rising preference for slow, immersive travel. The new rooms bring Kodaikanal’s love for cycling and leisurely exploration into the guest experience, reinforcing Sterling’s reputation for destination-led stays where accommodation becomes part of the storytelling. Slow travel has gained notable momentum in recent years. Industry insights show that over 70 per cent of Indian leisure travellers now prefer relaxed itineraries, while global surveys indicate that nearly 60 per cent prioritise nature-focused, unhurried experiences. Cycling, walking trails and outdoor activities have become integral to this shift—an area where Kodaikanal naturally excels with its cool climate, lakeside charm and forest paths. The suites reflect this identity through full-sized bicycles used as art pieces, wheel-inspired décor accents and playful tricycle-shaped amenity baskets. Spread across the bedroom, living area and bathroom, the design elements create a warm and imaginative atmosphere rooted in the destination’s character. Guests often find that the theme strengthens their connection to the hills even before they step outdoors. Harinath M, Senior Vice President – Marketing, Sterling Holiday Resorts, said the idea celebrates the timeless appeal of Kodaikanal and mirrors the rhythm of guests who enjoy cycling around the lake or exploring quieter forest trails. He added that the intention is to create memories defined not only by sights but by the emotional connection guests feel with the hills. The cycle-themed suites combine creative design with upscale comfort, featuring valley-facing sit-outs, spacious layouts and plush bedding. The resort also offers a spa, all-day dining, indoor games and a Discovery Central for children, ensuring a relaxed hill-station retreat without compromising comfort. Sterling Kodai Valley has further expanded its Discoveries and Experiences programme with activities such as night jeep rides, off-road trips to Puliyur Kombai, guided treks through shola forests and bonfire evenings. The resort’s new weekly event, Crispy Tales at Kodai, invites guests to harvest vegetables and learn Murukku making with the chef—turning culinary interactions into engaging local experiences. Together, these offerings capture the essence of Kodaikanal—from pine forest walks and lake-side cycles to scenic viewpoints—ensuring that the joy of exploration is woven through both the décor and the experiences that extend beyond the room.
