SUJAN Acquires Two Zambia Camps in First Overseas Expansion

India-based luxury hospitality company SUJAN has acquired Zambia’s Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro from Chiawa Safaris, marking its first significant international expansion. The transaction gives the company a presence in one of Africa’s major wildlife regions as it seeks to build a portfolio of conservation-led wilderness properties.

The two camps are located along the Zambezi River in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park. The acquisition expands SUJAN’s operations beyond India and provides access to a destination known for wildlife tourism and high-value travel experiences.

SUJAN said it plans to more than double its portfolio over the next four years through selective acquisitions and expansions. The company said future growth would focus on properties aligned with its approach to conservation, hospitality and long-term management.

Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro have been operated by Chiawa Safaris for more than three decades. SUJAN said it would build on the camps’ existing operations while retaining their conservation focus and continuing the principles that have shaped the properties’ presence in the Lower Zambezi region.

The company’s founder and chairman, Jaisal Singh, said the move into Africa was intended to combine hospitality with conservation and community development. Co-founder and executive chairperson of ANAND Group Anjali Singh said SUJAN would seek to maintain the stewardship and conservation principles developed through its Indian operations.

SUJAN said the expansion would support the development of a larger international portfolio of conservation-focused camps and lodges. The company’s international strategy comes as Indian hospitality businesses seek overseas markets to broaden their portfolios and gain exposure to prominent tourism destinations.
