TCG Enters India’s Data Centre Sector with 2 GW AI-Ready Plan

Cortex DC, an arm of The Chatterjee Group (TCG), has announced its entry into India’s data centre sector, with plans to develop 2 GW of AI-ready capacity across the country over the next seven years. The platform is being designed to serve hyperscalers, cloud service providers and advanced computing workloads.

The company said the initiative aims to address rising demand for high-performance computing driven by artificial intelligence and cloud adoption. It has not yet finalised locations for its facilities, but expects its first centre to be operational within 18 months of construction beginning.

Cortex DC plans to source 51 per cent of the energy used by its facilities from green sources. Renewable energy is expected to form part of the infrastructure strategy from the outset as the company develops capacity for domestic and international customers.

The platform has been under development for several months, and workstreams covering sites, power and partnerships are already at an advanced stage, according to an official. The company has not decided how many data centres it will build, with the number and scale of facilities expected to be determined as the programme progresses.

Cortex DC said its infrastructure would be developed in India to support customers globally, with a focus on scale, resilience, power availability and connectivity. Chief executive Rahul Sharma said the company’s objective was to provide globally competitive, AI-ready infrastructure and strengthen India’s position as a destination for demanding computing workloads.
