Telangana Government to Set Up MSME Centre of Excellence

The Telangana government plans to establish a Centre of Excellence for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to help businesses adopt modern technology, access investment and expand their markets, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said. The proposed centre will also support efforts to promote products made in Telangana in national and international markets.

Speaking at the LUB MSME South India Summit organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati in Hyderabad, Babu said the centre would provide support for technology adoption, market access and investment linkages. The initiative is intended to strengthen the capabilities of small businesses and improve their ability to compete across markets.

The minister said MSMEs played an important role in the state’s industrial development and supported the livelihoods of millions of families. He added that the state government had introduced a dedicated MSME policy to strengthen the sector and improve institutional support for small businesses.

The government also plans to organise a monthly MSME Grievance Day to address concerns raised by small businesses and facilitate their resolution. The proposed platform is expected to provide enterprises with a regular channel to present operational difficulties and seek assistance from relevant authorities.

Babu said steps were being taken to improve industrial estates in and around Hyderabad. He urged MSMEs to give greater attention to product quality, technology adoption, skill development and production capacity to remain competitive.

State Bank of India Managing Director Ram Mohan Rao attended the summit along with Laghu Udyog Bharati Telangana representatives Y Venkateswarlu, K Narendra Nath Dutt and Om Anuj Khadelwal, among others. The event focused on strengthening the operating environment and growth prospects for MSMEs in the region.
