Trentar Signs Rs. 300 bn MoU for 500 MW Green Data Centre in Maharashtra

Trentar, the technology and infrastructure arm of Dorf Ketal Group, plans to develop a 500 MW green integrated hyperscale data centre project in Maharashtra, backed by an investment of Rs. 300 bn. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra for the proposed development.

Under the MoU, the state government will facilitate coordination for applicable permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances and incentives. The project has also received the state’s Letter of Intent, which outlines the support and incentives available under prevailing policies and regulations.

Trentar is designing the project to source at least 51 per cent of its power from renewable sources. The proposed facility will also be supported by in-house energy storage, while the company is assessing treated-water reuse and water-efficient cooling options.

The final cooling and water-management technologies will be selected through detailed design and feasibility studies. The approach is intended to address the energy and resource requirements associated with large-scale data centre operations, while supporting the project’s positioning as green digital infrastructure.

The proposed investment marks Dorf Ketal Group’s expansion into large-scale digital infrastructure for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. Established in 1992, the group has built a global specialty-chemicals business serving demanding industrial applications.

Dorf Ketal Group has experience in process engineering, utilities, thermal management, water treatment and energy efficiency. Trentar said these capabilities would support the development of the proposed data centre project, with the Maharashtra MoU providing a framework for progressing the required approvals and project planning.
