UFlex To Invest Rs 7 Billion In Dharwad Packaging Expansion

Flexible packaging and solutions manufacturer UFlex Ltd will invest over Rs 7 billion to expand its packaging film manufacturing line in Dharwad, Karnataka, a senior company official has confirmed.

The company will add 54,000 MTPA of new capacity at the plant, increasing its global packaging film capacity to 690,160 MTPA, up from 636,160 MTPA.

“We plan to invest over Rs 7 billion to expand our packaging film manufacturing line in Dharwad. This project will add 54,000 MTPA of new capacity, significantly strengthening our portfolio and enhancing our ability to serve customers with scalable, high-quality packaging solutions,” Rajesh Bhatia, Group President and CFO of UFlex Ltd, told PTI in an e-mailed interview.

The Dharwad expansion follows the recent augmentation of aseptic packaging capacity at Sanand in Gujarat, where production rose from 7 billion to 12 billion packs per year.

Bhatia said three major strategic projects are also progressing well: a 12-billion-pack aseptic plant in Egypt, an 80-million WPP bags line in Mexico, and a recycling facility of around 40,000 MTPA in Noida. These, he added, will substantially enhance UFlex’s global scale and capabilities.

The new capacities are expected to begin contributing from FY27 and reach full impact in FY28, supporting steady and profitable growth. The company anticipates these expansions will generate nearly Rs 30 billion in additional revenue once fully operational.

UFlex reported consolidated revenue of over Rs 150 billion in FY25, and Bhatia said the upcoming capacities will further strengthen the company’s growth trajectory. He added that GST rationalisation will boost consumption, while India’s extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework will increase demand for recycled packaging materials.

“These developments together create a strong foundation for ongoing growth across our businesses,” he said.
