Vedanta Aluminium Named TNFD Early Adopter

Vedanta Aluminium has been recognised as an early adopter for its first Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) report, released in 2025. The company has also reaffirmed its No Net Loss by 2050 goal, strengthening its commitment to integrating nature and biodiversity into business strategy.
Through the TNFD assessment, Vedanta Aluminium has mapped its dependencies, impacts and risks across operations, identifying priority ecosystems and key water and biodiversity challenges across its value chain. The company said the exercise will support stronger decision-making on nature-related risks and place it among a select group of global metals and mining companies adopting the TNFD framework.
Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said the recognition marks an important step in embedding nature considerations into core business decisions, while advancing transparency, responsible growth and efficient resource use.
The company has planted over 2.9 million trees as of FY25 and aims to reach 7 million by FY30. Its initiatives include bamboo plantations, fruit orchards, medicinal plant gardens and artificial nesting habitats to support biodiversity and habitat restoration.
Vedanta Aluminium has reduced greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 8.96 per cent since FY21 to 17.01 tCO₂e per tonne of aluminium. In FY25, it consumed 1.57 billion units of renewable energy, achieved 100 per cent fly ash utilisation and recycled over 16 million cubic metres of water annually.
The company was also featured in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, ranking among the top 10 per cent globally and #2 in its sector for the third consecutive year.
