We are shaping the next era of vertical mobility

Otis, a global leader in elevator and escalator solutions, is focusing on growth strategies for 2025. Sebi Joseph, President of Otis India, speaks with CW about sector trends and the company’s future plans.

What are your key growth strategies for 2025?
At the heart of our strategy for 2025 is a commitment to harness India’s growth potential, adapting to the changing landscape, and being a driving force in shaping the future of urban mobility. Our progress will be powered by:

Tapping into emerging cities:
India's tier 2 and 3 cities, including Jaipur, Indore, and Kochi, are driving rapid growth, accounting for over 40 per cent of new housing developments. Otis plans to expand its presence, offering tailored, cost-effective, and technologically advanced vertical mobility solutions for these cities.

Leading with technological innovation: We are transforming urban mobility by integrating next-gen technologies like advanced AI, IoT, and machine learning into our elevators and escalators. Our proprietary solutions such as OtisONETM, Compass360®, and Otis Integrated Dispatch™, among others, go beyond traditional functionality, enabling real-time data analytics, predictive maintenance, and seamless integration with smart building ecosystems. By expanding our offerings and introducing features like touchless operations and autonomous systems in the future, we aim to redefine how people interact with buildings and empower them to thrive in a world that’s taller, faster, and smarter.

Enhancing customer experience: Building on our Modular Series and Otis Create, we’ll offer solutions tailored to the aesthetic and functional needs of each client and sector. Combined with our reputation for high-quality service, customer focus, and innovative digital installations, we aim to deliver a personalized, seamless, and impactful experience.

From your perspective, what are the critical factors shaping your sector in 2025, and how is OTIS poised to adapt?
India’s rapid urbanisation is driving the demand for smarter, more efficient vertical mobility solutions. As we look to 2025 and beyond, factors like high-rise growth, smart tech integration, sustainability, and safety regulations will shape our approach to designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing elevators and escalators. Otis is proactively adapting to these trends to lead the industry’s next phase of evolution.

We are undertaking a multi-faceted approach to actively provide offerings that are futuristic in terms of aesthetics and IoT-enabled products and services. We are pushing the boundaries by refining and evolving our existing technologies to unlock new levels of efficiency, performance, and safety. From enhancing energy-efficient designs to expanding our use of regenerative technology, we are continuously advancing to meet the growing demands of sustainable construction and align with India's sustainable building initiatives. We are also reimagining safety and performance with features like advanced real-time monitoring, and innovative emergency systems, ensuring our solutions can meet evolving regulatory standards. By building on our current strengths, we are not just adapting—we are shaping the next era of vertical mobility.
