Hitachi Vantara Named Leader in GigaOm Radar for AI-Optimised Storage

Hitachi Vantara, the data infrastructure and hybrid cloud subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. (TSE: 6501), has been recognised as both a Leader and Fast Mover in the 2025 GigaOm Radar for High-Performance Storage Optimised for AI Workloads. This marks the debut edition of the GigaOm report in this category, spotlighting the company’s ability to deliver enterprise-ready infrastructure solutions that support the growing demands of AI and machine learning workloads.

The GigaOm Radar evaluates vendors based on current capabilities and future-readiness, focusing on performance, innovation, and execution. Hitachi Vantara stood out for its Hitachi iQ portfolio and advanced integration with Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One).

Key highlights include:
  • World-class quality of service and workload isolation, enabled by file system-level policies and a flexible cluster architecture—ensuring consistent performance in multi-tenant AI/ML environments.
  • GPU-direct storage integration, which boosts performance by streamlining data transfers between storage and GPU memory.
  • AI-optimised data layout and management, including automated tiering across NVMe flash and object storage, supported by real-time monitoring and policy-driven controls for performance and cost efficiency.
“What really stood out about Hitachi Vantara’s offerings is the quality of service and the ability to isolate workloads,” said Whit Walters, Field CTO and Analyst, GigaOm. “They’ve delivered a well-integrated, scalable platform in Hitachi iQ, backed by enterprise-proven storage. This combination gives organisations a powerful and flexible foundation for operationalising AI at scale.”

The report also highlights Hitachi Vantara’s collaboration with NVIDIA, particularly around the NVIDIA Data Platform on Hitachi iQ, and the introduction of the Hitachi iQ M Series launched in March 2025. The company’s advanced storage tiering across TLC/QLC NVMe and object storage further reinforces its AI-readiness.

“AI isn’t just pushing the boundaries of what infrastructure needs to do; it’s completely redrawing them,” said Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer, Hitachi Vantara. “Our goal with Hitachi iQ is to give customers a high-performance foundation that removes complexity, accelerates outcomes, and adapts to whatever their AI journey requires next. By integrating Hitachi iQ with our VSP One platform, we’re enabling a flexible, intelligent storage strategy that’s ready for what’s now and what’s next.”

This recognition follows Hitachi Vantara’s Sustainable Technology Award win at the Global Tech & AI Awards 2025 for its VSP One Block solution. Earlier this year, the company was also named Leader and Outperformer in the GigaOm Radar for Primary Storage, further validating its strong position in the enterprise data infrastructure landscape.
