LG Charts Global HVAC Leadership With AI, Acquisitions and Localisation

LG Electronics has unveiled a strategic roadmap to transform its ES Company into a top-tier global HVAC solutions provider by 2030, targeting KRW 20 trillion in revenue. The plan, announced at LG Sciencepark, South Korea, focuses on expanding B2B industrial sales, advancing AI-based technologies for data centres, and strengthening localised operations across key regions.

Central to LG’s roadmap is growth in the fast-expanding data centre cooling segment. With the global chiller market projected to reach USD 12 billion by 2027, LG aims for KRW 1 trillion in sales by 2027. The company has already tripled orders for data centre cooling solutions year-on-year and launched a dedicated AI Data Center HVAC Solution Lab at its Pyeongtaek facility for real-time performance testing.

Recent pilot trials of liquid cooling systems are underway in partnership with LG U+. These include direct server chip cooling using coolant distribution units and advanced chiller-based solutions compatible with DC-powered environments.

In line with its “3B” (Build, Borrow, Buy) strategy, LG continues to scale its portfolio via internal R&D and strategic acquisitions. The recent acquisition of Norway-based OSO strengthens its presence in Europe’s heating market. Simultaneously, investments in the Air Solution Lab, partnerships with universities, and M&A targets remain key pillars of growth.

The company is also broadening its commercial HVAC footprint in logistics, retail, and infrastructure projects. Notable deployments include the Multi V i™ system in Singapore and chillers for The Avenues-Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. LG is tailoring solutions to regional needs while accelerating non-hardware revenue through platforms like BECON and an AI-powered digital twin system for thermal analytics.

To support growth in the Global South, LG is establishing a product development hub and a new production line in Sri City, India, capable of producing 1.5 million AC units annually by 2026. The company also operates HVAC Academies across 65 locations in 43 countries and plans to expand the network to 70 by end-2025.

"HVAC demand is rising with the surge in global data centres," said James Lee, President, LG ES Company. "With decades of expertise, we aim to lead the HVAC transformation in the AI era."
