Tata Power-DDL Enhances Electrical Safety for Kanwar Yatra 2025

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL), serving around 9 million people in North Delhi, is implementing intensive safety measures along the designated Kanwar Yatra routes within its operational area.

As lakhs of devotees undertake this annual pilgrimage, the risk of accidental contact with electrical infrastructure increases—particularly during the monsoon. The discom aims for zero incidents during the 2025 Yatra and has mobilised zonal teams to identify all Kanwar camps and carry out strict safety protocols. These include leakage testing of electric poles, transformers, and substations; replacement of damaged jumpers and cable joints; securing feeder and service pillars; and checking earthing and streetlight functionality. Danger signboards have been installed, and PPE and tools stocked for field crews.

At Kanwar camps, all connections are properly metered with MCBs and ELCBs, insulated wiring is used with no open joints, and hazardous points have been barricaded or fenced—especially in waterlogged zones.

Pilgrims are advised to maintain distance from electrical infrastructure, avoid using iron or wet sticks near overhead wires, and not to suspend banners or flags on electric poles. Any electrical hazard should be reported to 19124.
