Domestic finished steel production declines

Domestic finished steel production declined by 0.5 per cent in the first half of the current year (April-September 2015) to 45.64 mn tonne even as imports increased 41 per cent during the period. In September 2015, production of the metal dipped by 1.3 per cent to 7.34 mn tonne compared to August 2015, according to latest data posted by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC), a body under the union steel ministry.
