Coal ministry receives 38 bids 24 mines from 31 companies

On Tuesday the government said that 31 companies which include JSW Steel, Vedanta Limited, NLC India Limited, Jindal Power, and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited submitted bids for 24 mines under commercial coal mines auctions.

38 online and offline bids have been submitted in the three rounds of auctions. In a statement, the coal ministry said that a total of 31 companies submitted their bids, online and offline in the auction process.

Birla Corporation Limited, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited, Rungta Metals Private Limited, and Godavari Power and Ispat Limited are other companies that submitted the bids.

The auction process for 122 coal/lignite mines had been launched in March. Except for 10 mines, the submission deadline for technical bids was June 27, 2022. The excluded 10 mines include Parbatpur Central coal mine and 9 lignite mines.

The statement added that technical bids including online and offline bid documents have been opened as a part of the auction process in the presence of the interested bidders.

The bids are going to be evaluated by a multi-disciplinary technical evaluation committee. The technically qualified bidders will be shortlisted for participating in the electronic auction.

After the technical bids were opened, the forum opened for discussion and suggestions from the bidders to transform the commercial coal mine auctions to be more attractive for the industry.
