NSL Achieves Record Operational Performance Across Units in November

NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), India’s youngest integrated steel plant, has reported its strongest-ever operational performance for November 2025, driven by steady processes, higher capacity utilisation and efficiency gains across its production chain.

The Raw Material Handling System recorded its highest daily wagon-tippling count at 616 on 21 November, alongside a record monthly Base Mix output of 5,18,886 tonnes. The Sinter Plant also posted its best single-day production of 15,590 tonnes and a monthly total of 4,14,271 tonnes, operating at more than 105 per cent of rated capacity.

The Blast Furnace delivered 11,315 tonnes of hot metal on 28 November—119 per cent of its rated capacity—and a monthly output of 2,80,049 tonnes, surpassing 101 per cent utilisation. NSL achieved its lowest monthly average fuel rate of 519 kg per tonne and its highest monthly Pulverised Coal Injection rate of 164 kg per tonne.

Downstream units registered multiple milestones as well. The Steel Melting Shop, Thin Slab Caster and Hot Strip Mills achieved their highest monthly outputs, delivering 2,03,356 tonnes of HR coil, 2,09,445 tonnes of crude steel and 2,15,010 tonnes of liquid steel, with capacity utilisation levels between 84 and 86 per cent. The plant also set a new benchmark with a converter lining life of 4,799 heats. Two commercial grades—IS 2062 E450BR and IS 2062 E350C—were added to the product portfolio, supporting demand from construction, infrastructure and engineering sectors.

Operational optimisation at the Oxygen Plant enabled savings of about Rs 1.9 crore in power costs through single-plant turndown mode. The plant also completed performance guarantee tests for the Blast Furnace and Turbo Blower packages and obtained BIS certifications for IS 2041:2024 and IS 2062 E450BR.
