Vedanta Aluminium earns 7th BIS certification

Vedanta Aluminium, India?s largest aluminium producer, announced that the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has certified its 12 mm wire rods, produced at its Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) facility in Korba, Chhattisgarh. The newly certified 12 mm aluminium wire rods have diverse applications, primarily in electrical and power transmission, owing to their excellent conductivity, lightweight nature, and durability.

Vedanta Aluminium was the first company in the Indian aluminium industry to secure BIS certification for its extensive range of aluminium products. This latest certification is testament to the company?s commitment to unmatched product quality and continuous innovation in the aluminium industry.

Alongside the new BIS certification of 12 mm wire rods, BIS has re-certified six additional product categories: EC Ingots, Alloy Ingots, Primary Ingots, Rolled Sheets, Rolled Conductor Plates, and Rolled Plates for general engineering purposes ? all of which are produced at the company?s BALCO facility. With these certifications, Vedanta?s BALCO unit now holds seven BIS certifications covering a total of 17 products, giving the company a significant edge in the market.

Speaking about Vedanta Aluminium?s focus on quality excellence, John Slaven, CEO ? Vedanta Aluminium, said, ?At Vedanta Aluminium, our focus is to consistently deliver top-notch aluminium products that meet the highest standards. These BIS certifications reflect our rigorous quality control and advanced production techniques, enabling us to serve diverse industries and global customers with a diverse range of products that are designed to exceed industry standards.?

With its limitless applications in clean energy, electric mobility, green buildings, high-tech manufacturing, and sustainable packaging, aluminium is crucial for a low-carbon future.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is the apex domestic body tasked with defining quality standards across industry sectors. It employs rigorous assessment methodologies before issuing the BIS Standard Mark, a coveted stamp of quality on manufactured products. These certifications reiterate Vedanta Aluminium?s promise of making quality and reliability the key attributes of its product offerings. The company is also collaborating with BIS to develop standards for aluminium products and raw materials for which appropriate quality standards do not currently exist.

Vedanta?s aluminium products are also registered with the London Metal Exchange (LME), an undisputed testimony to their international quality standards. The company has been proactively seeking BIS certifications to further boost Indian customers? confidence that the aluminium they buy is certified by the country?s highest authority on quality standards. To achieve this, Vedanta Aluminium deploys some of the world?s best technologies in metal manufacturing, uses sophisticated processes, conducts deep R&D, and works with emerging-tech start-ups and experts from around the world. Owing to this, the company continues to be a preferred supplier to customers in nearly 60 countries.
