Air India, Singapore Airlines Expand Commercial Partnership

Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will expand their commercial cooperation from October 15, enabling standalone bookings and broader reciprocal loyalty benefits on eligible routes between India and Singapore. The arrangement follows the Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement signed by the two airlines in January.

The first phase will cover 126 weekly flights between Singapore and eight Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai. The expansion will apply to flights operated by either airline and booked through the other carrier’s channels.

At present, customers booking an Air India-operated codeshare flight through SIA must combine it with an SIA-operated flight, with the same requirement applying in the opposite direction. From October 15, that condition will be removed, allowing passengers to book eligible flights independently and choose more flexible itineraries between the two countries.

The airlines will also introduce reciprocal loyalty programme benefits. From Q2 2027, eligible KrisFlyer and Maharaja Club members will receive enhanced privileges on select routes. These benefits will include priority check-in and boarding for top-tier members of both programmes, while Maharaja Club Silver and KrisFlyer Elite Silver members will receive additional baggage allowances and priority boarding on eligible services.

The changes are intended to provide greater recognition for frequent flyers and a more consistent experience across the two carriers. SIA holds a 25.1 per cent stake in Air India following the integration of Air India and Vistara, in which the Singapore-based carrier was also a shareholder. The expanded partnership deepens cooperation between the airlines following that integration.
