Tarmat-JKG JV Wins Rs 2.48 Billion Chennai Airport Contract

Infrastructure firm Tarmat, in joint venture with JKG, has been awarded a contract worth Rs 2.48 billion by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for extensive airside development at Chennai International Airport.

The project scope includes the construction of eight new rapid exit taxiways (RETs) for Runway 07-25 and three additional RETs for Runway 12-30. It also involves the extension of the Parallel Taxi Track-R, associated link taxi-track works, and the development of Link Taxi-Track-K1.

This large-scale expansion aims to improve aircraft movement efficiency, reduce runway occupancy time, and enhance the airport’s overall operational capacity.

The initiative forms part of AAI’s broader mission to modernise and upgrade aviation infrastructure across key Indian airports.

The Tarmat-JKG joint venture combines specialised experience in runway and taxiway construction, positioning it well for the timely and high-quality execution of this major development project at one of India’s busiest airports.
