Boosting connectivity: 6-lane Karnal Ring Road to traverse 23 villages

The progress is underway for a significant Ring Road project in Haryana, which aims to enhance connectivity in the important highway city of Karnal and its surrounding areas. It has been reported that a new circular road with six lanes is being constructed, traversing through 23 villages in the Karnal district, thus establishing a link between these villages, the city, and National Highway 44.

It is anticipated that upon its completion, the Ring Road will effectively alleviate the traffic congestion within the city. According to the most recent updates concerning the project, the acquisition of 219 hectares of land for the 34.5-kilometer-long road is nearing its conclusion. Preliminary measures, such as land levelling near Kunjpura, approximately 10 kilometres away from Karnal city, have already commenced.

The upcoming Karnal Ring Road is projected to be the largest road development endeavour in the history of Karnal, with an estimated cost of Rs 17 billion. The expenses will be shared equally between the Haryana government and the central government. The expected timeline for the completion of the Karnal Ring Road is set at 2-2.5 years. Besides alleviating the congestion on GT Road, the road, which will span 60 metres in width, will enable commuters from neighbouring villages to access the highway directly without the need to enter Karnal city.

The villages that are set to benefit from this project's connectivity include Barota, Bijna, Chhaprakheda, Dadupur, Darad, Daniyalpur, Ganjo Garhi, Gharaunda, Jhimarhedi, Jhanjhari, Kurali, Kunjpura, Kutel, Kharkali, Navel, Ranwar, Sheikhpura, Samalkha, Shamgarh, Suhana, Salaru, Subhari, Taprana, and Unchasamana.
