Gurugram Sectors 58-115 To Get Wider Internal Roads

Gurugram Municipal authorities have approved a plan to widen internal roads in Sectors 58 to 115 to ease rising congestion and improve connectivity. The scheme will cover residential and commercial pockets within the sectors and aims to enhance traffic flow while providing safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists. Officials described the project as part of a broader urban mobility initiative to address persistent bottlenecks and reduce travel times.

The proposal envisages redesigning carriageways, upgrading footpaths and improving street lighting to create a more organised road environment for residents and businesses. Drainage and stormwater management works will be integrated into the road upgrades to reduce flooding risks during the monsoon and protect existing infrastructure. The authority expects the interventions to support emergency vehicle access and facilitate last mile connectivity to public transport nodes.

Work will be carried out in phases to limit disruption, with priority given to stretches that currently experience the highest traffic volumes and safety incidents. Residents will be consulted on alignment and parking arrangements and efforts will be made to minimise the removal of mature trees, with compensatory tree planting where relocation proves unavoidable. Utility relocation and coordination with service providers will be completed before major resurfacing to ensure continuity of essential services.

The municipal agency has indicated that contractors will follow defined traffic management plans and that notifications will be issued in advance of major works to assist commuters and businesses. The initiative is expected to support local economic activity by improving access and may form a template for similar upgrades in other parts of the city. Officials will monitor outcomes and report on performance measures such as journey time improvements and reductions in incident rates.
