Himadri Executes First Liquid Coal Tar Pitch Export via New Mangalore

Himadri Speciality Chemical (HSCL), a global leader in speciality chemicals and advanced carbon materials, has executed its first-ever export of liquid coal tar pitch to the Middle East from its terminal at the New Mangalore Port. The 3,600-tonne shipment marks a major milestone for the company and reinforces India’s growing role in the global carbon materials trade.

The shipment underscores Himadri’s capability to manage high-volume international deliveries through integrated logistics and stringent quality systems. Alongside its established terminal at Haldia on the eastern coast, the New Mangalore consignment opens a second export corridor for the company from the western coastline, strengthening its ability to serve industrial demand across key global markets, particularly the Middle East and the Americas.

Liquid coal tar pitch is a critical raw material used in aluminium smelting, graphite electrode manufacturing and other high-temperature industrial applications where performance consistency and thermal stability are essential. The successful shipment reflects Himadri’s technical expertise and manufacturing strength in meeting the evolving requirements of global heavy industries.

“This first-ever coal tar pitch shipment from New Mangalore Port to the Middle East is a defining milestone for Himadri and underscores India’s growing presence in the global carbon materials ecosystem. It reflects our capability to deliver large-scale, high-quality exports while reaffirming our steadfast commitment to reliability, consistency and operational excellence. This reflects the confidence global markets have in our products and capabilities. As we continue to expand our international footprint, we remain firmly focused on reinforcing India’s position as a trusted and dependable supplier of advanced carbon materials,” said Anurag Choudhary, Chairman & Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Himadri Speciality Chemical.

Looking ahead, the company has outlined an expansion strategy focused on strengthening its presence in the Middle East and the Americas. Increased capacity planning, diversified port utilisation and targeted market outreach will support this growth. Himadri aims to position itself as a long-term strategic supplier by leveraging integrated manufacturing capabilities, strong technical know-how and sustainable production practices.

The milestone reinforces Himadri’s position as a preferred global supplier of advanced carbon materials and demonstrates its commitment to world-class manufacturing, technology-led growth and sustainable operations.
